Different Types Of Clock Radios
Clocks have come a long way since they were first invented. They used to be large fixtures only found on walls, and then they became smaller and worn on wrists. Today, clocks have been combined with radio capabilities to make clock radios. These are a convenience for most, since they combine the properties of a clock with the amenities of a radio. People rely on clock radios to get them up for work and school during the week, as well as lulling them to sleep after a hard day.
Price ranges are from 16 to 99 dollars or these machines and may be simple or highly complex. The simple ones consist of a digital display and the choice of waking up to a buzzer or the radio.
Complex models have the same as the simple ones, but also options of falling asleep to the sound of a favorite radio station, frogs, the ocean, a rainstorm, a heartbeat, or a favorite cd.
Besides the sleep button, to limit the amount of time the music plays, there is also the snooze button for those few extra minutes of sleep. There are models with docks for small music holding devices, sometimes in combination with the cd option. Fun shapes are also available; cartoon characters and animals are the most common.
It isn’t necessarily the fun shape of the clock radio that is intriguing but possibly the animal sound emitted, in place of a buzzer. Who wouldn’t rather wake up to a croaking frog than a blaring and monotonous buzzer?
Features such as time being projected onto the wall or ceiling and blue tooth capabilities are added options on some clock radios. Many do offer the choice of using either electricity or batteries to power the clock. There is always the standard choice of regular sized numbers or the extra jumbo ones to aid those with visual impairments.
